Pendientes Nautilus / Nautilus Earrings

Hi everyone.

Debo confesar que en mi trabajo del año pasado tenía pequeños diminutos huecos de tiempo libre. Insuficientes para hacer algo de provecho ;p pero definitivamente suficientemente largos para desperdiciarlos echando un vistazo a internet con mis amigos (de los cuales he encontrado un montón de gente encantadora en estos últimos meses, gracias a tod@s, chic@s) en busca de nuevas ideas en las que trabajar cuando llegaba a casa. Otro día os cuento cómo trabajar con cuentas me ha ayudado a lidiar con el estrés diario, pero hoy no.

I must confess my job for last year left me some small tiny amounts of spare time. Not enough for useful tasks ;) but definitely enough to waste it looking on the internet with my friends (of which I met a lovely bunch in this past months, thank you all, pals) for new bead ideas to work on when I arrived home. Some other day I will tell you how beading has helped me deal with everyday stress, but not today.

De vuelta a la historia principal, este fue uno de esos días. Encontré este patrón y estaba preguntándome si debía intentarlo y si tenía los materiales para hacerlo. Y entonces apareció mi amiga, vio la foto de los pendientes terminados y dijo que quería unos. Pero en rojo (los originales eran en azul). Menos mal que es una persona muy paciente (como la mayoría de mis amigos, tengo que admitir) por que de lo contrario se hubiera enfadado bastante: era una época del año bastante ajetreada y yo no tenía mucho tiempo libre para trabajar en ningún encargo.

Back to the main story, this was one of these days. I found this pattern and I was wondering whether should I give it a try and did I have supplies for making it. And then my friend showed by, saw the picture of the finished earrings and said she wanted them. But in red (the original ones were in blue). Thank God she is a very patient person (as most of my friends, I must tell) 'cause otherwise she would have been very angry: it was a busy time of the year and I didn't have much spare time to work on any order.

Como recompensa a su paciencia ésto es lo que consiguió.

And as a reward to her patience here is what she got.

Están hechos con un patrón de Graziella Mallara, publicado en el número de Junio de 2017 de la revista Bead & Button. Es una pieza curiosa. Se empieza con una pieza tejida plana y es en la última parte que se le da la forma final curvada. Necesitamos una mezcla de rocallas 15/0 y tupís de Swarovski de 4 mm. Al principio pensé que necesitaría diferentes tamaños de rocallas para conseguir la forma característica de una caracola, pero solo es una cuestión de tensión en el hilo. Curioso.

They are made following a pattern by Graziella Mallara, published in Bead & Button magazine, June 2017 issue. It was a funny piece of work. You start with a flat piece of weaving and in the last part you give it its final curly shape. The pattern uses a mix of 15/0 rocailles and 4 mm Swarovski toupies. At first, I thought different sizes of rocailles would be neccessary to achieve the characteristic shape of a seashell but it is just a matter o thread tension. Funny.

Ahora que estoy escribiendo este texto y viendo la foto en mi pantalla me están viniendo todo tipo de ideas locas como ¿qué pasa si junto varias piezas para hacer un collar? ¿Será cómodo de llevar? ¿Puedo hacer los pendientes más pequeños? ¿Puedo hacer una única pieza más grande como colgante?

Now that I'm writing this text and seeing the picture on my screen crazy ideas are coming to my head as what if I join different pieces to make a necklace? Would it be comfortable to wear?  Can I make the earrings smaller? Can I make a bigger solitary piece to use as a pendant? 

Buff, creo que es el momento de parar. De lo contrario puedo terminar teniendo ideas "peligrosas". Pero si las hago ya os las enseñaré.
