El vestido de seda azul

Hay trabajos que tienen una historia muy personal y este es uno de ellos. 

There are some projects with a very personal story and this is one of those.

Este vestido fue un regalo. Era de una persona muy querida que falleció y al organizar sus ropas se dieron cuenta de que no se podía usar pues con el tiempo le habían salido unas feas manchas amarillentas.

This dress was a present. It came from a very dear person who passed away and when family was organizing her clothes they realised it cannot be used 'cause some very ugly yellowish stains have appeared.

La verdad es que era una lástima pues era precioso. Estaba confeccionado a mano (en la foto no se ve por que la persona que lo hizo era muy habilidosa y las puntadas eran prácticamente invisibles, me costó una barbaridad desmontar las piezas) y era de seda de la mejor calidad. En aquella época yo estaba experimentando con distintas técnicas para crear complementos así que antes de descartarlo se pensó en reciclarlo. Este es el resultado, con todo el cariño que ella nos dio.

It really was a pity since it was lovely. It was handmade (you cannot see it in the picture since the dressmaker was truly skilled and stitches were almost invisible, it took me ages to tear the pieces apart) and it was made of best silk. Those days I was experimenting with different techniques in order to create accesories so before throwing it away we decided to recycle it. This is the result, with all the love she gave us.

Está hecho con yo-yos o rosetas de diferentes tamaños. Son muy fáciles de hacer, a partir de un círculo que se frunce. Podéis encontrar muchísimos tutoriales en internet

It is done with yoyos in various sizes. They are very easy to do, starting with a circle you gather around. There are many tutorials on the web.

Como podéis ver se combinó la seda del vestido con otras telas como rasos, organzas y gasas diversas, en distintos colores que pudieran ampliar la gama, tanto de colores como de texturas, para que el diseño final no quedara demasiado plano. Como detalles se añadieron puntillas y cuentas variadas (cristales de Swarovski, nácar, cuentas de cristal, flores de tela, metálicas, etc.) que resaltaban las distintas piezas del collar.

As you can see the blue silk was combined with satin, georgette and variegated chiffons, in many colours to widen the range of colours and textures, so the final design was not flat. I also used lace edgings and some types of beads (Swarovski crystals, mother of pearl, crystal beads, metallic and plastic flowers, etc) to highlight the necklace pieces.

Os dejo también un detalle del cierre con una bola facetada y un lazo de cuentas.

In the next picture you can see a detail of the closure. It is done with a faceted bead and a loop of small beads.

Me alegra decir que a la persona que lo recibió le gustó mucho, especialmente por su valor sentimental que es lo principal. 

I'm happy to say the person who received it she liked it very much, specially because of the sentimental value.
